It has always been my wish to visit the Ponyfish Island ever since spotting this hidden gem located under the Yarra Pedestarian Footbridge (which connects Southbank to Flinders Street Station). The Ponyfish Island is a floating bar and restaurant overlooking the Yarra. The unique location of this bar and retaurant has always drawn my attention and I’m glad I finally decided on this belated visit!!
This place is definitely one to rave about. Despite the crowd, the ambience was amazing. We visited the bar on a sunny late afternoon and was captivated by the view which overlooks the Yarra with the backdrop of the old buildings around Flinders Street Station.
We ordered a cocktail jug of Pimms with fruit, mint, ginger ale and lemonade (AUD30). The drink was refreshing, light and a great way to quench our thirst on a warm day like that. There are other food options and even a breakfast menu (I googled) available. We didn’t do much, just sat around and chat and enjoyed the scenery. Cannot emphasize how much I adore such alfresco/ waterfront views!!!!
